Queen Elizabeth doesn’t allow Kate Middleton to sit beside Prince William at Christmas dinner due to an important reason.

In the Channel 5 documentary “Sandringham: Christmas With the Queen,” former royal butler Grant Harrold said that a strict etiquette requirement needs to be followed at the Queen’s table. Her Majesty is also the one in charge of designating where certain individuals would sit.

According to Harrold, the hosts of dinner usually sit on opposite ends of the table. Beside them are the next most senior guest, which is usually Prince Charles.

At the other end of the table is usually Prince Philip, and he will be seated beside Camilla Parker Bowles.

Following this seating arrangement, one will know that Prince Charles will be sitting next to Prince William, while Middleton will be sitting next to Camilla.

“The reason being, so other people get to have a conversation with you. It keeps the conversation going throughout the meal,” Harrold said.

Meanwhile, the Duchess of Cambridge also made headlines this week after she attended the Christmas Day walkabout with her husband and the other members of the royal family. The mom of three wore a grey coat that received a slew of different reactions from royal fans.

“What in the name of Robin Hood costume is Kate Middleton, Duchess of Cambridge wearing? This is an awful outfit – it’s making my eyes hurt. I’m sorry. I love fashion but NO. And I hope this isn’t fur? Because if it is, it’s time we stopped within fashion,” Twitter user @bee_well_mn said.

“Strangely, in black it would work better but this color is just…” Twitter user @bee_well_mn replied to another royal fan.

“She thinks she looks like Scarlet O’Hara. In her [expletive] dreams,” Twitter user @HBICmaverick said.

“Okay, I changed my wish. All I want for Christmas is Kate Middleton’s whole wardrobe collection,” Twitter user @feliciarichsand said.

“I wish I could dress like Kate Middleton,” Twitter user @HaayleeCaameron said.
