Although Kate Middleton and Meghan Markle are married to Queen Elizabeth’s grandsons, that doesn’t mean the monarch plans on giving the women special treatment. While Elizabeth has cordial relationships with Prince William and Prince Harry’s wives, she can’t allow herself to form a special bond with the Duchesses.

Queen Elizabeth has taken the time to form relationships with the women, and although she may have a better relationship with Meghan, she doesn’t play favorites.

During a chat with Fabulous Digital, editor-in-chief of Majesty Magazine, Ingrid Seward revealed Elizabeth has more fun with Meghan, despite her short time in the Royal Family. “The Queen admires Kate tremendously but does not have an intimate relationship with her as they don’t have much in common,” Seward explained.

“I think the Queen and Kate have a more serious relationship as obviously, Kate holds all the Queen’s hope for the future, and she would not want to do anything to upset that.”

Seward claimed Elizabeth had an easier time relating to Meghan. “With Meghan, she would tread very carefully and do her best to make her feel at home. They have a love of dogs in common and Meghan knows how to make her laugh,” the commentator said.

However, due to her position in the monarchy, Queen Elizabeth cannot allow herself to get too close to anyone. “The Queen has an acerbic wit and of course, is an excellent mimic so she can be very entertaining – but she never forgets she is Queen even with her grandchildren,” Seward noted.

Queen Elizabeth reportedly struggled to build a strong bond with Prince William and Prince Harry when they were young due to Prince Charles and Princess Diana’s scandalous marriage. “William is different as he is her grandchild and she took the trouble to get to know him when he was at school at Eton,” the editor revealed.

“Before that, she saw very little of him as he was at the mercy of his warring parents, and their divided lives. It is the same with Harry. But Harry has a quick wit and sense of humor which she likes so she gets along well with him when she sees him.”

While Queen Elizabeth is reportedly skilled at holding entertaining conversations, she is well aware of how important it is to keep her guard up and remember her place as a leader.
