Why Queen Elizabeth Would Be ‘Sorry’ But ‘Understanding’ Of Harry, Meghan’s Christmas Plans
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle just announced their decision to celebrate Christmas in the United States. Since joining the royal family last year, this will be Markle’s first Christmas in her hometown.
Following the announcement, royal commentator Richard Fitzwilliams said that Queen Elizabeth will most likely be understanding of the royal couple’s decision. However, Her Majesty will still feel sorry that the Duke and Duchess of Sussex won’t be able to celebrate the holidays with the royal family in Sandringham.
The royal expert revealed that the monarch will especially be sorry for Prince Harry and Markle’s decision especially since this will only be the second time that she won’t celebrate Christmas with her grandson. In 2012, Prince Harry also skipped the holidays in Sandringham because he was on active duty in Afghanistan.
It has also been a common practice among the members of the British clan to come together for the holidays. However, Markle and Prince Harry have also felt the need to spend time with the Duchess of Sussex’s mom, Doria Ragland, in Los Angeles this year.
“The obvious stress Harry and Meghan were under was shown in the interview in the documentary about their visit to South Africa and the fact that they made them public, is a clear sign that they need their six-week break and also, clearly, a to give thought about how and possibly where they want to plan their future and that of Archie,” Fitzwilliams told Express.
As of late, details about the royal couple’s trip to the United States are still being kept under wraps. There are reports suggesting that they will be traveling to the country by the end of this month, and they will stay in the United States until the end of December.
In the statement released by the royal couple’s press secretary, it was revealed that Prince Harry and Markle’s schedule won’t be released due to security concerns.
