Why 'Selling Sunset's' Chrishell Stause, Jason Oppenheim Split After 5 Months
KEY POINTS
- Jason Oppenheim said he and Chrishell Stause have "different wants regarding a family"
- The Oppenheim Group founder also said they remain best friends despite their split
- The breakup came just five months after the "Selling Sunset" co-stars went public with their relationship
"Selling Sunset" star Chrishell Stause and her boss Jason Oppenheim have called it quits.
Oppenheim, 44, confirmed the split in a post on his Instagram Story Tuesday, just five months after he and Stause, 40, went public with their relationship and seven months after they started dating.
"While Chrishell and I are no longer together, we remain best friends and we will always love and support one another," wrote the founder of Los Angeles real estate firm Oppenheim Group. "She was the most amazing girlfriend I've ever had, and it was the happiest and most fulfilling relationship of my life."
Oppenheim added that he and Stause have "different wants regarding a family," but they continue to have "the utmost respect for one another."
"Chrishell is an exceptional human being and loving her and having her in my life is one of the best things that has ever happened to me," he continued.
Their split came less than a week after Tarek El Moussa's former friend, Robert Drenk, accused Stause of using him for her "Selling Sunset" Season 4 storyline. He claimed that Stause was already dating Oppenheim when he was set up on a blind date with her that was filmed for the Netflix reality series.
"It seemed like I was being set up — like she used me as a pawn in this chess game or something," Drenk told Page Six. "It was really awkward."
Drenk claimed that producers wanted him to be Stause's "big first date" following her public splits from her now-ex-husband Justin Hartley and "Dancing With the Stars" pro Keo Motsepe.
"They needed a guy to come in to be this first date that didn't work out with Chrishell so that she could slide in with Jason [Oppenheim] and have this amazing relationship," Drenk alleged.
Stause, for her part, denied his claim that she and Oppenheim were dating at the time, calling Drenk "rude."
Oppenheim and Stause confirmed they were dating in July. A month later, Stause told E! News that the pair had actually begun their romantic relationship a couple of months prior to the announcement.
At the time, she said that they had been "really private and secretive" when it came to their romance until they realized that "the walls were closing in" and that people were noticing the change in their relationship.
"We made it to a point where we're really happy to share it because we knew exactly what it was, so it's all good," she added.
Oppenheim also told Us Weekly in July that he and Stause became close friends while working together and their friendship blossomed into romance. "I care about her deeply and we’re very happy together," he said at the time.
Last month, Stause and Oppenheim spent the Thanksgiving holiday together, serving hot meals to the homeless while volunteering at the Los Angeles Mission.
Stause also shared just two days ago a video with Oppenheim in the makeup trailer on the "Selling Sunset" set as the cast wrapped the filming of the show's fifth season.
Stause and Oppenheim's relationship will play out on "Selling Sunset" Season 5, which will premiere on Netflix next year.
