Sophie, Countess of Wessex was delighted with the arrival of Prince George in 2013, but the royal didn’t rush to meet the youngster immediately after he was born.

During a previous interview, Sophie said that she didn’t rush to see Prince George and even his parents, Prince William and Kate Middleton, because she wanted to give them the time to enjoy the birth of the third in line to the throne. But Sophie made sure to send the royal couple her message of congratulations.

“Not yet, I’ve sent messages, but I’m hoping in the next couple of days to be able to catch up with them. I think they’ll probably want to just be together at the moment,” Sophie said.

Prince Edward’s wife said that when she gave birth to her two children, she and her husband also wanted to have some alone time with their babies. Sophie and Prince Edward did not spend time with their relatives and friends until after they’ve celebrated as a family for days or weeks after their child’s birth.

Sophie’s previous interview was unearthed around the same time that Meghan Markle and Prince Harry announced that they will be keeping the birth of their baby private. The couple released a statement via the palace saying that details about Baby Sussex will be unveiled after they have celebrated as a family.

Unfortunately for the royal couple, their decision was faced with criticisms. Royal author Tina Brown recently called Markle entitled for keeping her baby away from the press and the public’s eye. However, the author also said that Baby Sussex is ultimately Markle and Prince Harry’s child so they have the right to do whatever they want regarding the baby’s birth.

And even though Markle and Prince Harry could be breaking royal protocol with their child’s birth, there is one thing that they are required to do. After Markle gives birth, Prince Harry should inform Queen Elizabeth II that the baby has arrived before anyone else.
