Donald Peters of Connecticut following a 20 year tradition with his wife purchased two Connecticut Lottery tickets on November 1, one of which was a $10 million winner, however later that day he suffered a fatal heart attack.

The widow in her grief over her husband's death, put aside and almost discarded before recently checking the number.

I'm numb, Charlotte Peters, 78, said at Connecticut Lottery headquarters in Rocky Hill.

I was in the grocery store and I had it checked and they told me I was a winner. I had no idea how much it was, she said.

She has not decided what she will do with the money.
