Wii U Release Date Reportedly Leaked By Gaming Accesory Maker PDP
The Wii U will be released Nov. 18, if one is to believe a slip of the tongue from a representative of game accessories maker PDP at a GameStop manager's conference in Texas, Kotaku reports.
The PDP rep's presentation apparently concluded with the announcement that their Wii U accessories would be available ahead of the Wii U's release on Nov. 18. This comes as news to Nintendo fans, who are awaiting a press conference to be held in New York next month.
Kotaku's source said that, upon further questioning, the PDP representative "changed the subject real quickly once they realized what they said."
Kotaku then followed up on the apparent slip of the tongue, with a PDP rep stating "at this time we can't confirm Nintendo's dates and we don't know exactly what was heard, but we simply do not know that this point. We are launching accessories, but the date for the accessories doesn't mean a confirmation on the hardware. If you seek confirmation on the date, that is something that is going to need to go specifically though Nintendo, but we can't confirm or deny dates on any of their hardware."
Nov. 18 would match Nintendo's plan to have the Wii U console in stores by Christmas. By launching in November and announcing a strong lineup of games, Nintendo makes the Wii U the must-own gadget for the holiday season. "Call of Duty: Black Ops 2" will be a Wii U title, and that game launches on Nov. 13. After Nov. 18, Black Friday will occur, surely seeing a slight reduction in price, only furthering the Wii U's sales.
