- Prince Harry had positive and negative changes after meeting Meghan Markle, according to various reports
Prince Harry transformed into a more serious person when he met Meghan Markle, who eventually became his wife, according to a new book.
The Duke of Sussex was "quite a wild lad" before meeting the Duchess of Sussex. However, that changed the day their paths crossed, according to The Times royal correspondent Valentine Low in his new book "Courtiers: The Hidden Power Behind the Crown."
According to Low's tome, before King Charles' two sons became full-time working royals, Jamie Lowther-Pinkerton was appointed their private secretary on a part-time basis. He helped the royal siblings "steer a course through life." But it was reportedly "more complex" with Prince Harry compared to his older brother, Prince William.
"The younger prince was a dashing figure, flying an Apache helicopter, and was heavily committed in the area of children's health, with charities like Well Child. But he also used to be quite a wild lad," Low wrote in his book, Mirror reported. "When Harry was young, it was easy to forgive him, his transgressions. But at what point does a wild lad become a seedy old roué? At the time, it was nothing to worry about: just something to keep an eye on."
But a huge change happened when Markle came into his life. Something in Prince Harry reportedly "died."
"Eventually, of course, the problem would resolve itself, but not in a way that Lowther-Pinkerton or anyone else imagined. The wild lad died the day Harry met Meghan Markle," Low continued.
Prince Harry had several positive changes after welcoming Markle into his life. He started to practice yoga, stopped drinking and smoking, followed a healthy diet, became an early bird, and more, Reader's Digest reported.
However, Markle also allegedly changed his behavior and kept him away from his circle. "Palace Confidential" host Jo Elvin mentioned how "smiley, jovial and sort of party prince" Harry was. But he turned from "jolly to sourly."
British journalist and investigative journalist Tom Bower, the author of the book "Revenge," said after meeting Markle, "he slipped from what was the natural person, whom everyone in Britain loved." He agreed with Elvin that Prince Harry changed from being jolly and playful to a "vengeful person full of ventures."
"I think Meghan encouraged the ventures. Meghan encouraged the anger, the hatred, and seeing anywhere and paranoia," he said.
