Will 'Beverly Hills Cop' Actress Heather Parkhurst And Fiancée Keep Their Pitbulls After Attack?
"Beverly Hills Cop III" actress Heather Elizabeth Parkhurst remains a pit bull advocate, despite nearly losing her arm in an attack.
The 52-year-old remains in the hospital after her arm got mauled during a fight between her two pit bulls on Friday. According to Parkhurst’s fiance, Mark Nason, their 8-year-old pit bull, Buddha, began growling while she was petting their 7-month old pit bull, Baby, before the two attacked one another. The “Alpha Dog” actress’s right arm got caught in the crossfire, TMZ reports.
She was rushed to the hospital reportedly suffering from deep cuts on her arm, torn ligaments, and pulverized bones in her hand. As a result of the injuries, the medical staff inserted pins and stitches throughout her arm.
Now, Nason states that Parkhurst must undergo about a year of therapy to recover from this incident. However, he told TMZ that he and his soon-to-be wife plan to keep their dogs and remain firm in their pit bull advocacy.
However, Parkhurst is no stranger to surgery or recovery. As Daily Mail reports, the actress appeared on E!’s reality series Botched in 2015 and got her breast successfully reconstructed. That surgery came after she contracted a flesh-eating disease during a breast reduction procedure, which left her with nothing but shriveled skin in their place.
“My whole career has been based around my breasts and when that was taken away from me, my career was taken away from me,” she said on the show at the time.
The illness, which was caused by a bacterium called Methicillin-Resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA), took the star 18 months to recover from.
Parkhurst, who was born in San Francisco, is a well-known Playboy model. She has also has appeared in "NYPD Blue," "The League," "Charlie's Angels," and "Sherman Oaks."
