Will Elton John Continue To Perform After Farewell Tour? Manager Explains Future Plans

Elton John is not retiring after his final performance on the "Farewell Yellow Brick Road" tour, which will be his last, comes to an end in 2023.

John's husband and manager David Furnish confirmed the "Can You Feel The Love Tonight" singer's plans for the future in an interview with Billboard.

"It's really important to make a distinction between Elton retiring from touring but Elton not playing his very last public performance for the very last time," Furnish told the outlet. "Will Elton return as a live performer? I hope so! It's in his blood."

Furnish clarified that John is not completely turning his back on fans although he will no longer be touring once his farewell shows wrap up in mid-2023.

"What you're going to see is the possibility of a special one-off or a small residency in one venue for a limited period of time," Furnish explained.

He added, "I don't think it will be Las Vegas. Elton feels he's done the best he can in Las Vegas. He mounted two hugely successful residencies there. When you're an artist and something's in your blood, you don't want to shut the door completely."

The "Rocket Man" singer is gearing up for more family time after he finishes the shows in 2023, Furnish continued.

"I know Elton, and it wouldn't surprise me if he didn't do any more live shows, either. He's really looking forward to spending time with his family. That's the No. 1 priority in his life. Any type of return to any type of touring is going to be a very well-considered situation, and definitely not a given, at all," he said.

John performed at Dodger Stadium in Los Angeles on Sunday, marking the last leg of the "Yellow Brick Road" tour dates in North America.

The prolific singer, songwriter and philanthropist began his career in the '70s and released a string of hits including "Candle in the Wind," "Tiny Dancer," and "Skyline Pigeon." He was knighted by Queen Elizabeth II in 1998 and became "Sir Elton John." His biggest charity work is the Elton John AIDS Foundation where he raises funds to support HIV-related programs in many countries.
