Will ‘How To Get Away With Murder’ End After Season 6? Renewal, Cancellation Details
Months after renewing “How To Get Away With Murder” for Season 6, ABC has decided to cancel the law drama. Luckily, “HTGAWM” fans will still get the answers to all of their questions when the show returns in the fall for its final season.
“How To Get Away With Murder” premiered in 2014 and quickly gained a loyal fanbase. The show, which is produced by “Grey’s Anatomy” showrunner Shonda Rhimes, follows a group of law students and their professor, who find themselves at the center of several murders.
The series stars Viola Davis as Professor Annalise Keating, Charlie Weber as Frank Delfino, Liza Weil as Bonnie Winterbottom and Billy Brown as Nate.
Rounding out the cast as Annalise’s students are Matt McGorry as Asher Millstone, Aja Naomi King as Michaela Pratt, Karla Souza as Laurel Castillo, Jack Falahee as Connor Walsh and Conrad Ricamora as Oliver Hampton, who is a skilled hacker.
After several years of watching the group avoid murder charges, viewers will see Annalise and her students come together one last time for an unforgettable series finale.
“This season follows Professor Annalise Keating’s class through their final semester in law school – while the deception, fear and guilt binding Professor Keating to her students prove deadlier than ever,” the ABC press release teases.
Series creator, Pete Nowalk revealed he has every intention of giving the characters and fans the ending they deserve.
“Deciding to end this series was a brutal decision, but ultimately the story tells you what to do – as it did here. For me, Annalise Keating’s journey has always had a clear ending. Knowing I have 15 episodes left to finish her story, and the chance to give all the characters their own killer endings, is a gift rarely given to a series creator, and I’m grateful to ABC and ABC Studios for the opportunity and creative freedom,” he said in a statement.
Nowalk went on to praise the cast and fans while teasing what’s come when the show returns in the fall.
“I am so thankful to the brilliant cast, writers and crew for dedicating themselves to the most rewarding experience of my career over the last six years. I also want to thank our fans. The only reason this show exists is because of your loyalty and enthusiasm. I can’t wait for you all to see how it ends, with twists and turns and all the craziness we love to create every Thursday night. Buckle up.”
The final season of “How To Get Away With Murder” will premiere Thursday, Sept. 26 at 10 p.m. EDT on ABC.
