Will Kristen Stewart, Lupita Nyong’o Star In ‘Charlie’s Angels’ Movie Reboot?
Kristen Stewart and Lupita Nyong’o are the two of the actress being linked to the upcoming “Charlie’s Angels” movie reboot.
According to Variety, director Elizabeth Banks is eyeing the two actresses to be part of the all-female trio of private detectives. A third actress has not yet been linked to the project. The original “Charlie’s Angels” was first released on television via ABC on Sept. 22, 1976. It went on air until June 24, 1981.
In 2000, Cameron Diaz, Drew Barrymore and Lucy Liu starred in “Charlie’s Angels” the movie. The film earned $246.1 million at the global box office. Three years later, a sequel, titled “Charlie’s Angels: Full Throttle,” was also released for the big screen. The sequel earned $259.2 million globally, according to Entertainment Weekly.
The “Charlie’s Angels” movie reboot is slated for release sometime in 2019. It will be directed by Banks, who also helmed “Pitch Perfect 2.” Casting is already underway for one of Sony’s upcoming projects. “Charlie’s Angels” reboot will also be produced by Banks, Elizabeth Cantillon and Max Handelman.
As of late, Stewart and Nyong’o have not yet commented on their rumored casting for the film. The “Twilight” actress became known globally for her iconic role in the hit vampire franchise. Stewart will be starring in Justin Kelly’s “JT Leroy” biopic, the Lizzie Borden biopic, titled “Lizzie,” and the thriller movie, “Underwater,” according to Deadline. Stewart’s other film credits include “On the Road,” “Personal Shopper,” “Snow White and the Huntsman,” “Into the Wild” and more. Stewart is repped by Gersh.
Nyong’o, on the other hand, rose to fame after she won an Oscar for best supporting actress for her role in “12 Years a Slave.” She is set to appear in Disney and Marvel’s superhero film, “Black Panther,” slated to hit theaters in February, and Disney and Lucasfilm’s “Star Wars: The Last Jedi,” which will be released on Dec. 15. Nyong’o’s other film credits include “In My Genes,” “Queen of Katwe,” “Non-Stop,” “The Jungle Book” and more. Nyong’o is repped by CAA.
