Will Lionel Messi Complete A Sensational Move To Inter Milan? Here's What Club's Former Boss Has Said

Inter Milan has been tipped to make the sensational signing of Lionel Messi as their former president Massimo Moratti believes the move is not a “forbidden dream at all.”

The Barcelona skipper, whose current contract will allow him to leave Nou Camp as a free agent at the end of the current season, has been linked to the Italian side on several occasions over the last few months and Moratti says it is not an impracticable target.

“I don't think it's a forbidden dream at all. Maybe it wasn't even before this misfortune. Messi is at the end of his contract and it would certainly be attempted to bring him home. I don't know if this situation will change anything, but I think we will see strange things at the end of the year,” Moratti told Radio Rai.

Meanwhile, there also have been reports that suggest Messi has been pushing Barca to sign his fellow countryman and Inter Milan’s current star forward Lautaro Martinez. The Catalans see the 22-year-old Argentinean as a long-term replacement for veteran striker Luis Suarez.

Moratti, who held the president’s post at Inter Milan between 1995 and 2013, also suggested that Martinez could be used in an exchange deal for Messi.

“He [Martinez] is a very good lad, he cares about his career. But, as I said before, we have to see if it's part of an operation for bigger players like Messi,” the 74-year-old renowned businessman further added.

If at all, Messi moved to Italy in the next couple of years, he could well resume his rivalry with his arch-rival Cristiano Ronaldo in a different league this time. Moreover, when Ronaldo left Real Madrid to join Juventus in 2018, he had said that he wished Messi joined him in Serie A to which the Blaugrana skipper had responded by saying he does not need to change clubs.

Messi and Ronaldo have dominated soccer for over a decade now and between them, they have won a total of 11 Ballon d’Or awards.
