Sad news for reality fans of “Little People, Big World”: One of TLC’s most beloved couples, Amy and Matt Roloff, are going through a trial separation. The two have been married for 26 years and though they still plan to raise their children together, Amy revealed during a confessional for the reality show that they don’t have a concrete plan.

"Though we have weathered many storms together, we recently made the tough decision to engage in a trial separation," the couple said in a statement to People magazine. "Matt remains living on the farm in our guest house and we work together every day on the farm, on our business endeavors and most importantly, raising our amazing children."

The couple told the news site that they are grateful for the support of people around them during this difficult time: "We sincerely appreciate the unwavering support, understanding and prayers from our family, friends and many fans. May God bless you."

The Roloffs have four kids together: twins Jeremy and Zack, 23; Molly, 20; and Jacob, 17. Their TLC show chronicles their everyday lives. The thing that separates the family from many others is that three of the Roloffs were diagnosed with dwarfism.

"Last year it was long and tough," Matt says in a promotional clip. "Amy and I had a lot of tension, so right around Thanksgiving, I thought I would move over to the bridal house for a little bit and we'll try that. Amy and I stuck it out for years and years when maybe we shouldn't have. I never quite felt at home in my own home so something needed to change. We needed to try something different."

Amy made it clear it was Matt’s decision, not hers, for him to leave their family home.

"I think what Matt and I failed to do over many, many years is learned to live together," Amy says. "It's not my choice for him to leave. I am saddened by it. We don't have a plan as far as how we are going to work this out, so it's not going to be easy."
