Will Meghan Markle, Prince Harry Have Royal Baby Christened In Familiar Place?

Meghan Markle and Prince Harry might go somewhere familiar for the royal baby’s christening later this year. New reports suggest that they may return to the church where they were married.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex were married in May 2018 in St. George’s Chapel in Windsor, England. Express reports that this could be a likely location for their baby’s christening since it’s so close to their new home.

Meghan and Harry are currently renovating Frogmore Cottage. They’ll move out of the two-bedroom Nottingham Cottage at Kensington Palace very soon. The couple is said to be including a guest room and yoga studio in the update of what used to be staff quarters. The process of remodeling the space is rumored to be quite tedious.

Frogmore Cottage is only half a mile from St. George’s Chapel. Royal babies have been christened there before. Prince Charles and Princess Diana even had Prince Harry’s christening there.

Though the baby, who is expected to be born in late April or early May, is being born into the royal family, he or she may not receive a royal title.

As previously reported, Meghan and Harry want their child to have as normal an upbringing as possible. They reportedly have decided against taking any titles for the royal baby. While it was unlikely that their children would be called Prince or Princess (a right reserved for the eldest son of the Prince of Wales’ children), they might not even use inherited titles, like Earl of Dumbarton or Lady Mountbatten-Windsor.

The baby’s official title, or lack thereof, will be revealed ahead of the christening. The royal family typically holds the ceremony a few months after the baby is born.
