Will NBC’s ‘The InBetween’ Have A Season 2? Renewal, Cancellation Details
It can be hard for viewers to start a new show in its first season because there’s always a chance it could get canceled, leaving fans with a bunch of cliffhangers. It can be even harder when it comes time for the Season 1 finale and there’s still no news about the show’s future.
That’s the case for NBC’s “The InBetween,” which is, well, stuck in the in-between. The show has its finale tonight and has yet to either be renewed for Season 2 or canceled.
At 0.4, “The InBetween” is the lowest-rated NBC summer series in the 18-49 demographic and the second-lowest in average weekly viewers — just above “Hollywood Game Night” — with 2.598 million, according to TV Series Finale. To be fair, there also aren’t any direct comparisons to make with it this season because it’s the network’s only scripted series currently airing.
The freshman drama has been fairly consistent with its ratings from week to week, though, which could lead NBC to give the show another chance. But, as it’s only been on for one season, the network could also decide to cancel the show and give a new show or two a try next summer.
The renewal or cancellation decision is likely being held until after the Season 1 finale of “The InBetween” airs tonight at 10 p.m. EDT.
In episode 10 of the season, titled “Monsters and Angels,” Tom (Paul Blackthorne) and Damien (Justin Cornwell) look into the murder of a teacher, “only to discover that her killer is someone very close to home,” according to the synopsis, while “Cassie [Harriet Dyer] realizes that she must deal with Ed Roven [Sean Bolger] once and for all.”
