Prince Philip just turned 98 years old. And even though he has shown signs of slowing down, he is still able to make public appearances every now and then.

On the online forum site Quora, royal fans are wondering if the Duke of Edinburgh would live up to 100 years old or if he could surpass this age. Eileen Wood, a Republican since 1977, said that she hopes that Prince Philip could have more years on Earth as long as his health holds out.

“I’d hate for him to linger if he had no quality of life, but as long as he stays healthy, I hope he goes on for many more years as possible. When he goes, it will be devastating for Her Majesty and the rest of the family… Even though they know it is inevitable, it will still be devastating,” she said.

Carol Robin, a world traveler, and an optimistic realist, said that she thinks Prince Philip could reach the age of 100 or even beyond. After all, the Queen’s husband looks quite healthy for his age.

“He still looks fit for his age, still stands on his two feet with no help, pops up here and there including weddings, so I think he may live to be 100; which won’t surprise me at all,” she said.

Arlene B. Heed, who has read a lot of books about the British royal family, said that she also hopes the Duke will live beyond 100 years old. Heed thinks the monarch’s husband is a very interesting, strong, disciplined, and loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather.

But Isabel Hodgins, a graduate from the University of Newcastle said that it would be hard to predict if Prince Philip would get to survive until he’s 100 years old or older. After all, no one knows when exactly they would die.

Prince Philip was last seen public attending a royal engagement by himself.
