Thomas Markle’s attempts to heal the rift between he and his daughter via the media aren’t working. Meghan Markle is apparently in “crisis talks” after his latest interview called on Queen Elizabeth II to intervene. Now, palace sources have revealed whether the sovereign would ever help bring the family together.

The Duchess of Sussex and her father have been estranged since at least her wedding, which he did not attend. He has since gone on to do several interviews to talk about the strained relationship with Meghan. His latest, on Monday’s “Good Morning Britain,” included him voicing his desire for the Queen to push Meghan and Harry to talk to him.

“I would appreciate anything she can do. I would think she would want to resolve family problems,” he said after host Piers Morgan asked if he had a message for the Queen. “All families, royal or otherwise, are the same, and they should all be together, certainly around the holidays.”

He shouldn’t get his hopes up, though. “The Queen is a dignified woman,” an unnamed insider told the Mirror. “Even if she disagreed with the way her grandson’s wife or indeed her staff were dealing with the matter, she would certainly not become involved on this level.”

Thomas’ interview has apparently only made the royal family angry. Palace sources told the outlet that everyone is “enraged and yet exhausted” with Meghan’s dad, especially after trying to drag the Queen into this mess.
