Will Smith's ex-wife, Sheree Zampino, and his present wife, Jada Pinkett Smith, recounted the things that happened early on in their relationship.
Smith's past and present love reunited in a new "Red Table Talk" episode on Facebook Live. Zampino joined Pinkett Smith and the latter's mom Adrienne Banfield-Norris on the show as guest host to fill in for Willow Smith.
In the episode, they discussed their family dynamics. Both women are on good terms, but they recounted the events happening years ago after Smith and Zampino's breakup and after Pinkett Smith came into the picture.
"I would have definitely taken a beat as far as putting myself within the dynamic of you guys," Pinkett Smith said about the dissolution of Smith and Zampino's marriage, Fox News reported.
The "Nutty Professor" actress admitted that she didn't give the "Real Housewives of Beverly Hills" star enough time to adjust following her split from Smith. Pinkett Smith also recounted when Zampino crossed a boundary while co-parenting her son, Trey.
"I remember one time you came [into] the house, and you went into the master bedroom. You just looked around, yes. You looked around, you marched into the master bedroom, and you wanted to see what was going on, like how it was decorated and all that. You marched back there, and you were like, 'Oh, OK. I just wanna see,'" Pinkett Smith shared.
Zampino's mouth opened wide in disbelief. "Oh, that's out of line," she replied.
Pinkett Smith clarified that it happened "early on" in their relationship, and she believed Zampino was establishing her "queen bee" status.
"Oh, shame. Shameful," Zampino said.
In the same episode, Pinkett Smith looked back at the time when they received the divorce papers. She admitted that she didn't understand the marital dynamic at the time and realized that things "ain't never done" especially when exes have kids.
"When you got it, I remember you coming to me, and you were teary, you were very emotional, and you said, 'I just didn't know.' And basically what you were saying is, 'I was in the picture too soon,'" Zampino added.
Pinkett Smith did not deny it and even echoed Zampino's sentiment.
"I was. I was in the picture," the "Girls Trip" star added.
"You apologized for that," Zampino said.
Pinkett Smith admitted that she was wrong not to expect that Zampino would always be part of the family.
"This woman [is] to be a part of this family. It's like... not only like taking on Trey, but Sheree is coming along, too, as part of the package," Pinkett Smith said.
Zampino and Smith were married in 1992, and they divorced in 1995. The "Men In Black" star and Pinkett Smith started dating in 1995 and married two years later.
