Will There Be An ‘In The Dark’ Season 2? Renewal, Cancellation Details
The CW’s airing the Season 1 finale of one of its freshman dramas tonight, but at least the network’s not keeping fans in the dark about the show’s future.
Often viewers are left hanging after finales, wondering if a show will get renewed or canceled for another season, but that’s not the case with mystery-drama series “In The Dark.”
In April, the show was renewed for a Season 2, along with fellow CW newbies, “All American” and “Roswell, New Mexico.” Season 7 of “The 100” was also announced at that time. This news came a few months after The CW renewed nine of its other series in January, bringing its renewal total to 14 shows for the 2019-20 TV season.
“As we begin to plan for the 2019-2020 season, we’re thrilled to have this roster of 14 exceptionally creative and distinctive series, including all five first year shows, as the foundation on which to continue to build the multiplatform future of The CW,” Mark Pedowitz, The CW president, said in a press release. “One of our key long-term goals has been to continually add more original programming all year round, especially in midseason and summer, and with these returning shows and the new series we’ll order as we get closer to the May upfront, next season on The CW is shaping up to be our most robust year round schedule yet.”
“In The Dark,” which follows a blind woman trying to solve the murder of her best friend, stars Perry Mattfeld (Murphy Mason), Rich Sommer (Dean Riley), Brooke Markham (Jess Damon), Casey Diedrick (Max Keston), John (Darnell James), Morgan Krantz (Felix Bell), Thamela Mpumlwana (Tyson Parker), Derek Webster (Hank Mason) and Kathleen York (Joy Mason).
Just like the new seasons of “Roswell, New Mexico,” “The 100,” “Legends of Tomorrow” and new show “Katy Keene,” “In The Dark” will air as part of The CW’s midseason lineup, just like it did this year. This means it won’t come back with new episodes in the fall and won’t return until 2020.
An official Season 2 release date has not yet been announced, but fans still have tonight’s finale to look forward to.
In Season 1, episode 13 (titled “It’s Always Been You”), Murphy (Perry Mattfeld), and viewers, will finally learn the truth about what happened to her best friend Tyson. Who killed him? How did Murphy find him, only to have his body disappear before the cops arrived?
Find out when the “In The Dark” Season 1 finale airs on Thursday on The CW at 9 p.m. EDT, and then look out for Season 2 when it starts up during The CW’s midseason schedule in 2020.
