Will There Be A ‘Killing Eve’ Season 3? Renewal, Cancellation News
After what’s sure to be a shocking Season 2 finale of “Killing Eve” tonight, fans will be left wondering whether the show’s been canceled or renewed for Season 3.
No need to worry, though, because there are definitely more episodes of the Golden Globe-nominated series on the way. Last month, BBC America renewed “Killing Eve,” which is based on Luke Jennings’ “Codename Villanelle” novellas, for another season.
“We love having this show and the brilliant Sandra Oh, Jodie Comer and Fiona Shaw on our networks,” Sarah Barnett, President of Entertainment Networks for AMC Networks, said in a press release. “Phoebe Waller-Bridge and Emerald Fennell have delivered two addictively entertaining seasons.”
She continued: “As we did last year, we’re renewing ‘Killing Eve’ right out of the gate, now with Suzanne Heathcote as lead writer, as a sign of confidence – we adore this show as much as our fans do. ‘Killing Eve’ doesn’t do anything in a templated way; we love giving opportunity to three genius women to make their mark.”
Of Heathcote helming the show next, Season 2 showrunner Emerald Fennell said in the release, “It’s been such an exciting year for me on Killing Eve. I think it’s cool that this tradition has been built into this untraditional show. Inheriting some of Phoebe’s characters was a treat – I can’t wait to see what Suzanne does next.”
There’s still one episode left of Fennell’s Season 2. The finale (episode 8), titled “You’re Mine,” airs tonight and follows Eve (Sandra Oh) as she continues on her mission, though it gets majorly compromised, according to the synopsis.
“Carolyn [Fiona Shaw] briefs Eve on her current status as an employee of the British government and leaves Eve’s future in her own hands,” the synopsis shares of what else happens in the episode. “Villanelle [Jodie Comer] does everything she can in order to get to her ultimate target.”
Fans can catch the Season 2 finale of “Killing Eve” on Sunday on AMC or BBC America at 8 p.m. EDT.
