Will There Be More LGBT Characters In ‘Gotham’ Season 4? Robin Lord Taylor Weighs In
Fox show “Gotham” introduced LGBT characters in the Batman mythos by letting Oswald Cobblepot (Robin Lord Taylor) fall in love with Ed Nygma (Cory Michael Smith), as well as teasing interest between Barbara Keane (Erin Richards) and Tabitha Galavan (Jessica Lucas).
Even though these relationships did not end well, Taylor told Fuse that he’s happy the show is leaps and bounds ahead of others in terms of LGBT representation. “Honestly, you know, it’s about [expletive] time there’s more queer representation in ‘Batman,’” he said.

Personally, Taylor said he loved his character more when he began developing feelings for Nygma. The actor felt kinship with his character because they are both shunned by society for being different.
“That was sort of my human link to the character, the fact the Oswald was bullied and treated like he was different, and less than his peers,” he said. “Growing up overweight and gay in small-town Iowa, when I was a kid in the ‘80s and ‘90s, it was much different than it is now, and I know exactly what that feels like.”
“Gotham” already has a lot of villains in its roster, especially with Dr. Strange’s “freaks” roaming loose, but in Season 4, the show might decide to introduce several more well-loved characters.
Ben McKenzie, the actor who plays Detective Jim Gordon in the series, would love to come face-to-face with the Scarecrow. “There are some villains that I’m a fan of that are in season four,” McKenzie told Comic Book Resources. “I’ve always been keen on the Scarecrow. It would be nice if the Scarecrow showed up.”
As for Lucas, she’s a huge fan of Bane. She acknowledged that the timing isn’t right for his introduction right now, but she hopes the writers would incorporate his storyline in the future. “Bane! Can you imagine? I know time-wise, that may not be right… but maybe someone to face Bruce Wayne or Gordon who has the steroid, who has that strength and power,” she told Heroic Hollywood.
“Gotham” has been renewed for a fourth season and will air every Thursday instead of its usual time slot on Monday.
