Wimbledon 2013: Complete TV Schedule Of Play For Men's And Women's Tournaments
It’s that time of year again: The 2013 Wimbledon Championships are under way at the All England Club. This year’s Wimbledon television schedule consists mostly of broadcasts on ESPN and ESPN2, with highlight packages and match encores scheduled to air on ABC. ESPN will carry both the men’s and women’s singles finals live.
For the men’s tournament, tennis legend Roger Federer will attempt to defend his Wimbledon title against a field that is already without arch-rival Rafael Nadal, who suffered a stunning first-round, straight-sets loss to Belgium’s Steve Darcis. Federer has already advanced to Wimbledon’s second round with his victory over Romania’s Victor Hanescu. If Federer manages to successfully defend his Major title, he’ll have won the Wimbledon Championships a record-setting eight times.
For the women’s tournament, defending champ Serena Williams will attempt to earn her sixth career title at the All England Club. Standing in her way is Maria Sharapova, the women’s No. 3 seed, who has already advanced to the second round by defeating France’s Kristina Mladenovic. Williams and Sharapova recently engaged in a very public, very personal feud and will no doubt continue their rivalry on the court. Second-seeded Victoria Azarenka also advanced with a win over Portugal’s Maria Joao Koehler, but she suffered a knee injury that may hinder her ability to overcome Wimbledon’s strong field of female competitors.
