Windows 10 Leaked Preview Shows Xbox One App Interface And Cortana Integration
Leaked screen shots indicate the Redmond, Washington-based Microsoft is preparing a version of Windows 10 that will include an Xbox One app with the ability to access information from the console. This includes the friends lists, achievements and activity feeds of players.
Earlier this year, Microsoft revealed that Windows 10 would eventually come to the Xbox One. It appears that Microsoft wants to bring the essence of Windows 10 to the eighth-generation console, which will allow developers to create apps and games from Windows phones and PCs to the device.
Microsoft will hold a Windows 10 event at their headquarters in Redmond on Jan. 21, where they’re expected to reveal the new operating system . Earlier this month, Xbox head Phil Spencer told fans on Twitter that his future endeavors will focus more on Windows 10 and gaming.
The Xbox app appears to be similar to the smartphone SmartGlass app, with access to users’ friends lists, the Xbox Store, activity feeds and achievements. The app will act as a gateway to the Xbox experience, and Microsoft hinted it may include SmartGlass integration at a later date.
Microsoft announced that Windows 10 would arrive sometime in 2015. “It’s time for a new Windows,” the company said in late September.
Along with the new Xbox app, Cortana will be part of the new Windows 10 interface, a virtual personal assistant that responds to voice commands and helps users “manage their everyday life.” The build also displays the Windows 10 version of the new Windows store, which will place music, movies, television shows, games and apps in the same place.
