Windows 10 Update Stuck During Process, What to Know And How To Fix Them
Microsoft customers performing their Windows 10 Update reportedly experienced having their device stuck in the middle of the process. Some may just take a while to resume while others take hours of no movement.
Here are some important interpretations and solutions to the problem.
A Windows 10 Update download process usually takes a small amount of time to complete. Since Microsoft does not automatically update the system if it is not a critical one, the prompting comes from the user himself.
Because the Windows 10 update comes with minimal commands, it should not take much of the user’s time. Meaning, if the update download process gets stuck in the middle of the process and does not show movements anymore, then there is something wrong and something needs to be done.
Stuck with Pending Download and Downloading
When the Windows 10 update gets stuck with the message displaying “Pending Download” and “Downloading,” checking if the network connection is set on “Metered Connection” could help. The said setting blocks the Windows 10 update from downloading.
Another way is to restart the Windows Update Service and to clear the Software Distribution Folder. Microsoft customers must also have their TrustedIntaller service updated.
Stuck With Pending Install and Awaiting Install
The Windows 10 update stuck with the “Pending Install” and “Awaiting Install” responses are also areas that we need to work on in the days ahead. Factors to consider are group policy settings, the number of the devices’ active hours, the device could need a manual restart or the presence of a pending update in the background.
Stuck With Status Initializing and Status Installing
Windows 10 update stuck with the reply saying “Status Initializing” and “Status Installing” means the process is almost complete, a percentage on the progress bar can be seen and all that a Microsoft customer has to do is to wait. However, if the progress bar percentage during this process stops at a given number for hours or in worse cases days, the safest thing to do is to go search for the “Update and Security,” “Troubleshoot,” “Windows Update” and click “Run.”
If the last process did not work then clearing the Software Distribution and Catroot2 folder could be the last option. However, this part means going back to the entire downloading process once again.
