WindowsAndroid: Socketeq's Solution Runs Android Natively On Windows Kernel

To experience Android in a Windows PC, users have had to depend on dual-booting or virtualization. Now, Socketeq has come with a solution that can fully port Android on a Windows kernel natively, enabling the user to enjoy Android without having to go through the dual-booting or virtualization.

The application named WindowsAndroid runs smoothly in Windows kernel (Windows Vista, 7 and 8).

The application comes with all the features of Android, including the UI leveraging the Dalvik virtual machine, according to Socketeq.

The company says WindowsAndroid runs smoothly and swiftly on the Windows operating system as it does not depend on virtualization chains.

In a separate note, developers cite that the current ported Android version is Ice Cream Sandwich 4.0.3 and that a new version is under development.

Socketeq says WindowsAndroid provides full experience of the Google’s mobile OS. However, the Google applications will have to be flashed separately. The application supports mouse, key board, remote control and comes in multiple screen resolution that adapt automatically to the device screen size, the Android Police reported.

WindowsAndroid can be integrated with the Windows applications, such as Flash, Windows Media Player. It supports Ethernet and Point-to-Point Protocol over Ethernet (PPPoE). WindowsAndroid facilitates display in windowing or full-screen mode, allows windows scaling in windowing mode, and effortless switching between the two modes of display.

Other features include Android Framework/External projects porting, Hardware acceleration for Graphics subsystem, IPC (binder) porting and optimization.
