'Winds Of Winter' Update: Deleted Tyrion Chapter May Be Released As 'Standalone'
The delay in announcing the release date of “Winds of Winter” has many fans angry and frustrated, but George RR Martin recently made a statement that may come as welcome news. The author has promised to release a chapter about Tyrion Lannister that he has not used in the books as a “standalone,” which means there may be more content to look forward to apart from the books.
One of the reasons why “Winds of Winter” has been delayed has to do with Martin’s approach. In a recent interview with Dan Jones, the author explained that his style of writing is more like a gardener rather than an architect who knows exactly how the plot unfolds. It is only after he has done a fair bit of writing that Martin realizes that he may not be able to use those chapters because they are not needed in the story he is writing.
Martin has one such chapter about Tyrion Lannister in mind, which he promised to release as a “standlone.” As the author continues to write “Winds of Winter,” he may have more such chapters he can’t use, and that means there will be good amount of additional content that will be ready to be released after “A Song of Ice and Fire” is complete.
As far as completing the next book is concerned, Martin said in an interview with WGN Radio that in order to focus on the task he has to clear his mind of all other distractions. The celebrity author has many other books that he is writing, he is involved with the production of new TV shows, and he also has the work of the non-profit organization that he has started. Despite the distractions, he pointed out that when he clears his mind; he hears the voices of Tyrion Lannister, Arya Stark, and the other characters that live inside him.
While Martin is keen on completing and releasing “Winds of Winter” as soon as possible, he also wants to make sure that the work is of high standards that his fans have come to expect from him. He has confirmed that he is looking for a “strong” ending for the story.
