Winona Ryder has been announced as the new face of Marc Jacobs Beauty via the designer’s Instagram page Monday. The Academy Award-nominated actress was one of the most iconic actresses of the 1990s, but his will be her first beauty campaign for the designer’s spring 2016 line.

“It is with great pride (and pleasure) that I 'leak' this image from our upcoming 2016 MARC JACOBS BEAUTY campaign. It stars my dear friend (of over two and a half decades), the stunningly beautiful and extraordinarily talented, Winona Ryder,” Jacobs captioned the photograph. The ad is inspired by the 1961 film “The Last Year at Marienbad” and screen siren Delphine Seyrig.

In the newly released ad, Ryder showcases her flawless complexion and cat eye. The actress was shot by David Sims and styled by Katie Grand. Her retro-style hair was done by Guido Palau, and the cat-eye beauty look was done by makeup artist Diane Kendal. Ryder is Jacobs’s new muse because she embodies “flawless cool, elegant and timeless chic.”

Makeup lovers can recreate the the star’s look by using the Velvet Noir Major Volume Mascara, Fineliner Ultra-Skinny Gel Eye Crayons in Blacquer and (Big) Eyes, and New Nudes Sheer Gel Lipstick in Strange Magic -- all from the new collection.

The Marc Jacobs spring 2016 line will be launched in February 2016 exclusively at Sephora, select Marc Jacobs stores, and online at sephora.com and marcjacobsbeauty.com.

Ryder said that it was an honor to star in his beauty campaign. Talking to Allure magazine, she told that both off them share a similar penchant for past eras, and the history of fashion and culture. Though it is the 44-year-old actress’s first beauty campaign, she has earlier starred in Marc Jacobs Spring/Summer 2003 and most recently the fall 2015.

The star was arrested for shoplifting in Saks Fifth Avenue in 2001 (a cashmere Marc Jacobs sweater was amongst the stolen items). Jacobs said that he asked Ryder to do the campaign as he thought she looked beautiful in all the pictures that appeared in the media during the time.
