Winter TV Show Premiere Dates 2014: Watch Season And Midseason Premieres Of ‘Downton Abbey,’ ‘Revenge’ And More On Sunday, Jan. 5
It’s the first Sunday of 2014 … which means January 5 is jam-packed with new seasons and midseason premieres of your favorite shows.
Tonight kicks off at 8 p.m. EST with ABC’s special “The Bachelor: Countdown To Juan Pablo." The fun continues at 9 p.m. EST with the season 4 premiere of “Downton Abbey” on PBS, the midseason premiere of “The Good Wife” on CBS and “Revenge” on ABC. The night finishes out at 10 p.m. EST with the midseason premieres of “The Mentalist” on CBS and “Betrayal” on ABC.
“The Bachelor: Countdown To Juan Pablo” (Sunday, Jan. 5 at 8 p.m. EST on ABC)
Season 18 of “The Bachelor” kicks off on Monday, Jan. 6, but to get viewers pumped up, ABC is giving a behind-the-scenes look at Juan Pablo’s new season. Besides a look at some of the 27 bachelorette hopefuls, the special will also include a tribute to Gia Allemand, a former cast member who passed away in 2013.
“Downton Abbey” (Sunday, Jan. 5 at 9 p.m. EST on PBS)
The season 4 premiere of “Downton Abbey” picks up a couple months after Cousin Matthew’s untimely death. Mary is struggling with the loss, especially as a new mother, and Robert and Violet are uncertain how to help her through it. Meanwhile the servants will be dealing with their own drama as Thomas sets his sights on the children’s nanny, and Jimmy “takes an interest in Ivy.”
“The Good Wife” (Sunday, Jan. 5 at 9 p.m. EST on CBS)
In episode 11, titled “Goliath and David,” Alicia will be forced to go head-to-head with Will when he joins the opposing council of a band that Alicia is representing. A simple copyright infringement case “becomes psychological warfare” when Will “uses his knowledge of Alicia’s strengths and weaknesses against her.” Meanwhile Eli hires Kalinda “in an attempt to get ahead of a potential scandal.”
“Revenge” (Sunday, Jan. 5 at 9 p.m. EST on ABC)
Episode 11, “Homecoming,” picks up after the night of Emily’s wedding. “Allies and enemies scramble to learn what happened” that night … leaving everyone as a potential suspect.
“The Mentalist” (Sunday, Jan. 5 at 10 p.m. EST on CBS)
“The Mentalist” returns with episode 11, “White Lines.” While the FBI investigates the killer of several DEA agents, Jane goes on a date with a “beautiful woman associated with the case.”
“Betrayal” (Sunday, Jan. 5 at 10 p.m. EST on ABC)
“Betrayal” has three episodes remaining when it returns with episode 11. “The Karsten Way” will reveal the truth about Lou Mzorek’s murder, and find the McAllister and Karsten families in shock after Jack’s confession … and the thought of his future in jail. But Sara is not giving up on her lover. Set on trying to find a way to exonerate him, Sara revisits their past to find evidence.
