A woman accused of shooting at a police officer inside Dallas' Love Field airport terminal was indicted Wednesday by a grand jury for aggravated assault against a public servant.

Portia Odufuwa, 38, is currently being held on a $500,000 bond in Dallas County Jail.

Surveillance video shows Odufuwa entering the ticketing area without luggage on July 25. She approaches the Southwest Airlines ticketing area where witnesses report they heard her talk about her husband, who she said was celebrity singer Chris Brown. Odufuwa also threatens to blow up the airport before pulling the handgun from her sweatshirt.

According to Dallas Police Chief Eddie Garcia, she pointed a gun at the ceiling, firing two rounds, and then aimed it at a police officer and bystander. The officer took cover behind a ticket kiosk before shooting and wounding her in the leg multiple times. She was treated at a hospital before being booked into the Dallas County Jail three weeks later. Garcia also said Odufuwa had been arrested before and was prohibited from possessing a firearm.

The ATF and FBI assisted the investigation.

Odufuwa was arrested for a bank robbery in 2019, but the charge was later dismissed after she declared mentally incompetent to stand trial. Her mother filed a protective order against her in 2020 because she was not taking her schizophrenia or bipolar disorder medication. A Dallas judge also ordered her to attend both inpatient and outpatient treatment following an incident where she pulled a fire alarm.
