A 36-year-old woman in India has been arrested for allegedly killing her husband with the help of her shop’s employee over infidelity row. The duo reportedly killed the man and packed his charred body in a sack, which they later dumped on a busy road.

Kardhani police from the Indian state of Rajasthan arrested Manju Rathore and her aide, Pankaj Sharma, Wednesday in connection to the death of Shakti Singh Shekhawat on Nov. 2.

According to the police, Shekhawat suspected Rathore of infidelity, which led to a furious argument between the two. The woman then hatched a plan to murder her husband several days after the argument, according to the Times of India.

"Manju called Pankaj to her house on November 2. She tied Shakti’s leg when he was heavily drunk while Pankaj strangulated him with a rope," said the Deputy Commissioner of Police, Richa Tomar, according to the outlet.

After strangling Shekhawat, Rathore kept the body inside her house for two days while their two children were completely unaware of the crime. Rathore reportedly called Sharma again on Nov. 4 and they stuffed the body into a large suitcase. They reportedly took the suitcase to a different location, where they burned the body using camphor tablets.

The suspects moved the charred body from the suitcase and packed it into a sack, according to Dainik Bhaskar. They then dumped the body at a secluded area on a busy road and fled the scene.

Surveillance video in the area showed a woman and a man traveling on a scooter, carrying a large sack on Nov. 4. "We found her suspicions and tracked her down," Tomar said to the outlet. The two people on the two-wheeler vehicle were later identified as Rathore and Sharma.

The victim was killed after his daughter’s birthday celebrations. Since the dumping, police said the two accused checked the news every day to see if the body had been discovered.

The incident came to light after residents near the road where the body was dumped complained of a terrible stench coming from an pest-infested sack Tuesday. Cops who arrived at the scene discovered the charred remains, following which a team was immediately deployed to identify the deceased victim.

The cops further revealed that Sharma worked at Rathore’s shop and had accumulated a lot of debt. Rathore used the debt as leverage to enlist his help in the alleged murder. The accused woman also claimed that the victim used to beat her.
