Woman Allegedly Dips 11-Year-Old Girl's Hand In Boiling Oil, Gets Arrested

In a shocking incident, a woman allegedly dipped an 11-year-old child's hand in boiling oil to prove "she was not lying." The incident came to light after a video of the child narrating her ordeal came out.
Police said they have arrested the 40-year-old woman, identified as Lakhi Makwana, hailing from the Indian state of Gujarat, in connection with the incident Thursday, reported India Today.
Officers said the woman was the child's neighbor. The investigation revealed that the child, whose identity has not been revealed, saw Makwana talking to a man outside their home a few days ago.
On learning that the child saw her secret encounter with the man, Makwana summoned the child. "On Wednesday morning, when the girl's parents were not at home, the accused asked the girl if she had told others about her conversation with the man. Even though the girl denied it, the accused took her inside her house and asked her to dip her hands in a pan of hot oil to prove that she wasn't lying," a senior police official told India Today.
Though the child tried to run away, the woman forcibly grabbed the girl's arm and dipped it in the boiling hot oil.
"Another neighbor rushed the girl to a hospital as her parents were away at work. She was later discharged after treatment. The accused woman, who fled after the incident, was eventually arrested," the officer added.
Following the incident, the relatives of the child shot a video where the girl is seen narrating her ordeal. She is also seen showing her burns while breaking down in pain and agony. The video went viral on social media, following which a case has been registered.
The incident triggered an uproar in the state and authorities of the State Commission for Protection of Child Rights intervened.
Recently, a shocking case of child abuse was reported in another Indian state of Maharastra, wherein a man was seen brutally thrashing his 3-year-old daughter. The video of the incident went viral and child welfare organizations demanded action. The shocking footage showed the man, identified as Nagaraju M, hitting the child with a rope before lifting her by her neck. He then slams the child on the floor before walking away.
