"The 13-year-old girl with multiple injuries was rushed to a nearby hospital, following which she was shifted to Guwahati Medical College and Hospital for treatment," Gavari told the outlet.

The victim's family filed a police complaint against the woman at the Basistha police station, following which the accused was arrested on an attempted murder charge. Additionally, the woman was charged under the relevant sections of the Indian Child Labor (Prohibition and Regulation) Amendment Act, The Times of India reported.

In December 2021, a woman in India was arrested for allegedly assaulting her minor domestic help and forcing her to take her clothes off because the latter failed to finish her work on time. The 25-year-old unidentified employer, who was a resident of Mumbai, was accused of torturing her unidentified domestic help on several occasions claiming that she was inefficient. The incident came to light after the victim was hospitalized with injuries to her head. The victim told the cops her employer would beat her up with sandals, and also took her photos and videos after forcing her to disrobe herself. The employer was charged with assault, use of criminal force on a woman with intent to disrobe, and intentional insult of a minor. The minor girl had been working for the woman for four months, the police said.
