A woman who asked a man for help allegedly robbed the good samaritan at a gas station in Washington and fled the scene.
She was arrested days later after the vehicle she traveling was in crashed at the end of a private driveway.
The woman, identified as 28-year-old Siara Carrazco of Ferndale, had allegedly stopped a man at a Whatcom County gas station on May 22 at around 10:45 p.m., according to KIRO 7. The woman asked the man if he could help her pay for some items, and the man agreed to help, the Whatcom County Sheriff’s Office said. However, when the man returned with the items she asked for, Carrazco brandished a gun and ordered him to hand over his cellphone and money.
Carrazco fled the scene after the man gave her his cellphone. Investigators found the woman captured in surveillance footage and noted that the woman, who appeared to be in her late 20s or 30s, was wearing black sandals, blue jeans and a #43 Pittsburgh Steelers jersey.
The sheriff’s office said deputies tried to stop a black car Monday within Lynden city limits and chased the car when the driver refused to stop. Deputies realized after the pursuit that the passenger in the car was Carrazco, and the vehicle's driver was identified as Aaron Nerkins, 30.
Deputies followed the car and made attempts to stop the vehicle but to no avail, KGMI reported. When the driver realized officers had set up spike strips at one point, he swerved into a private driveway and crashed at the end of it.
The driver and the passenger were identified and arrested Monday. Carrazco was booked into Whatcom County Jail on suspicion of first-degree robbery, according to the Bellingham Herald.
Deputies also booked Nerkins, the driver, on suspicion of charges including attempting to elude police vehicles, reckless driving, third-degree theft and second-degree trafficking.
Nerkins was arrested last week for driving with a suspended license, the Whatcom County Sheriff's Office said earlier in a Facebook post. He was in the vehicle with a man wanted by the Department of Corrections at the time.
