Woman Attacks Deaf Man With Hot Water, Stabs Him In New York
New York police are looking for a woman who has been accused of throwing boiling water in a deaf man’s face and then stabbing him in an unprovoked attack.
The incident occurred on Sept. 2 near Humboldt Street, in the Williamsburg neighborhood, police said Thursday. The 41-year-old victim was sitting on a bench when an unknown woman approached him around 6 p.m. and tried to talk to him, CBS New York reported.
According to the report, the woman got upset when the victim did not understand what she was saying and started to walk away. The situation soon escalated into a physical confrontation and the woman attacked the man, authorities said.
She then threw a cup of boiling water in the man’s face and then proceeded to stab him with an unknown sharp object, police said.
The woman fled the scene following the attack, NY Daily News reported.
The victim was taken to a nearby Woodhull Hospital for treatment and was later listed in stable condition. According to the New York Police Department, the victim suffered stab wounds on his chest and burns on his face and chest.

In a similar incident, a 57-year-old man was doused with a scalding hot liquid during a random attack in New York City. The victim was walking home at night when a shirtless man ran up to him from behind and threw hot water on the victim. He then allegedly laughed while running away. The victim sustained second-degree burns on his back and shoulder.
New York is experiencing a crime surge in recent months as the city returns to work. According to NYPD Citywide crime statistics released Wednesday, the city, in September, experienced a 2.6% increase in crime rate, compared to the same time last year. Felony assaults increased by 18.5% and robbery assaults increased by 6% compared to last year. However, the murder and burglary rate witnessed a marginal reduction.
