A Texas woman was arrested after she allegedly bit off another woman’s nose and swallowed it.

The bizarre incident took place on July 11, after the victim — a 28-year-old woman who was identified by Eyewitness News as “Tatiana” — returned from an outing to a bar with her next-door-neighbor and Jessica Collins, — the suspect — who was temporarily living with her neighbor.

All three of them returned to Tatiana’s house where Collins, 41, started demanding for more cigarettes and alcohol. According to Tatiana, she told Collins to leave her property and that is when things got violent.

Collins was sitting with Tatiana in the latter’s backyard when an argument ensued and the suspect suddenly jumped on the victim, pulling her to the ground. Collins then proceeded to swallow the chunk of Tatiana’s nose that she had bitten off.

Tatiana said she did not have time to fend off the attack before Collins had bitten off the former’s nose. “I didn't have time to react, to push her away," said Tatiana. "I think I was trying to fight back, but I couldn't. All I could remember was the taste of blood in my mouth."

She added that the reality of the attack did not dawn on her till she was in the ambulance and on the way to the hospital. “I started calling my husband when I was in the ambulance," Tatiana said. "I was screaming, like, 'I don't have a nose. I'm 28 years old and I don't have a nose anymore.'"

The police were called and Collins was charged with misdemeanor assault inflicting bodily injury. She was released on bond. Even the police admitted the case was rare.

"I’ve seen a lot, I’ve seen other parts bit off. I mean, it does happen,” said Constable Mark Herman with the Harris County Constable’s Office, NBC-affiliated WDSU reported. “This case here is probably the first we’ve had in probably four or five years, but it does happen.”

Tatiana is so traumatized by the incident she refuses to step out of the house. “It’s where I feel safe,” she said.

The doctors told Tatiana she will have to opt for plastic surgery within the next two weeks if she does not want her nose to be permanently disfigured. Going for surgery after that period, will become complicated, her physician warned.

However, Tatiana does not have health insurance and the extensive surgery will be costly. Hence, she is trying to raise enough money through a Go Fund Me page, set up by her friend, to get the surgery done.

“Because of the missing piece was never recovered, my friend now needs reconstructive plastic surgery. But if she doesn't have it within 2 weeks, the wound would start to heal and the surgery would be more complicated (according to the doctor),” the fund-raising page reads.

It further added: “Unfortunately, my friend doesn't have medical insurance and the doctor is requesting payment upfront. The surgery costs $12,000, but there isn't a price for the emotional and bodily damage my friend is enduring.”
