Upon arriving, the deputies found the woman, whose name wasn’t revealed, with severe burns. The victim told cops that her boyfriend, Noe Jimenez-Cortes, set her on fire intentionally, the South Florida Sun-Sentinel reported, citing the sheriff’s office.
The woman was taken to hospital, where it was determined that her condition was critical. A preliminary investigation indicated that Jimenez-Cortes poured lighter fluid on her for it to work as an accelerant before igniting her with a cigarette.
Jimenez-Cortes fled the scene immediately after setting her on fire. He was arrested later that day, CBS 12 reported. It is not clear as to what charges were leveled against him. His motive for carrying out the heinous act has also not been revealed.

Police said the accused, Shivon Perez, invited her ex-boyfriend for dinner and directed him to her bathroom, asking him to fix a faulty pipe. Perez then allegedly cornered the unsuspecting man inside the bathroom and poured gasoline over him before setting him ablaze with a torch. Not only did she light the man on fire, but she also allegedly torched her living room carpet, apparently intending to set the entire apartment on fire, before locking the main door and fleeing the scene. The man suffered severe burns to his upper body, including his face and neck after the incident. Perez was charged with attempted murder, kidnapping, and arson.
