A woman was arrested for dragging a dog that was leashed and tied to the back of her car. The incident took place at McCracken County, Kentucky on Monday.

The 60-year-old woman, identified as Jennifer Morris, was charged with cruelty to animals after she reportedly tied and dragged a dog behind her vehicle.

Police stated that they received 911 calls from multiple people regarding the incident. The woman drove down Kentucky Avenue and pulled into a parking lot with the dog still tied to the car. Multiple people tried to stop Morris while she was driving but were unsuccessful.

When officers arrived at the scene and found Morris standing near the vehicle and arguing with bystanders. Witnesses also told officers that she then dragged the dog from the parking lot and tried to leash the canine to a nearby signboard.

The accused told police she had an argument with a passenger in her car who had gotten out of the vehicle along with the dog and that she was unaware that the animal was tied to the car.

Morris has a history of criminal records, including criminal mischief and criminal trespassing convictions, arson and wanton endangerment convictions, and was convicted for harboring a vicious animal back in 2017. Morris was arrested and sent to McCracken County jail. She was charged with second-degree cruelty to animals and second-degree disorderly conduct.

The dog was taken to a local veterinarian for treatment after it suffered serious injuries.
