A 32-year-old man who was caught on camera falling from a ride at a Davis County, Utah amusement park over the weekend died Monday from injuries he sustained from the incident.

The man, whose name was not released by authorities, was captured on video clinging to the safety bar of a Sky Ride chair Saturday by fellow Lagoon Amusement Park visitor Lucy Grace Astilla, The New York Post reported.

"I thought it was a stunt, or he is a gymnast practicing for ‘American Ninja Warrior,’ rehearsing, but then I noticed he didn’t have any equipment that would save him from a fall," Astilla was quoted as saying by local newspaper the Gephardt Daily.

Astilla allegedly told an operator someone was hanging down from the Farmington park’s chairlift-like ride, but by then she had heard people screaming as the man had already fallen about 50 feet to the ground.

"People called 911. It was all so quick," Astilla recalled, noting that a crowd had formed when she reached the scene.

Officers and paramedics arrived after receiving multiple 911 calls shortly before 6 p.m. of a man who had fallen off the ride, a report by Fox 13 said. The responders reportedly rendered medical aid to the man before he was taken to the University of Utah Hospital by helicopter.

Police were allegedly notified of the man's death Monday but released no additional information other than saying that his fall was not intentional.

"From that time, I have had no good sleep," Astilla was quoted as saying by The New York Post.

"I'm still having a traumatic experience, but I think I can manage," she added.

Astilla later shared footage of the incident after she saw a news report that said the ride had malfunctioned.

"I didn't think that was fair, and I just wanted to prove to them that there's no malfunction," Astilla said, adding that she wonders if the man could have been saved if he had not been on the ride alone.

Both police and a park spokesperson claimed the ride did not appear to have malfunctioned.

An investigation into the incident is still ongoing.
