A woman killed her infant daughter after her husband refused to buy her new clothes. The incident took place in the Indian state of Uttar Pradesh over the weekend.

Police said the accused, identified as 25-year-old Pinky Sharma, got into a heated argument with her husband Sunday after the latter refused to get her and her children new clothes. In a fit of rage, the woman started beating her six-month-old daughter. She thrashed the infant so badly that the baby eventually succumbed to injuries.

The infant was rushed to a nearby hospital where she was pronounced brought dead. The husband of the accused immediately filed a police complaint following which the woman was arrested and charged with murder.

During interrogation, Sharma said she did not kill the infant intentionally. Police said the couple would have constant arguments and the woman took her frustration on the infant.

According to local reports, the couple tied the knot four years ago. They also have a three-year-old son.

Meanwhile, the infant’s father’s sister, who was also present at the home when the incident took place, filmed the woman banging the baby’s head against the wall instead of stopping the accused. Police were looking for the father’s sister. The video has since gone viral on social media.
