Woman Kills Neighbor's 3-Year-Old Boy As Part Of Occult Practice To Conceive Child
In a horrific incident in India, a woman killed her neighbor's 3-year-old boy as a human sacrifice so that she could conceive a child.
The police told local media the 25-year-old woman was under a lot of pressure to get pregnant, and after failing, she approached an occultist, who said she needs to sacrifice a child to please the gods to conceive, Outlook India reported.
The woman, identified as Neelam Gupta, strangled her neighbor's son to complete the occult practice. The body of the child was then stuffed in a plastic bag and dumped on the roof of a building in the state of Delhi.
The incident came to light Saturday after the child's parents filed a missing complaint. The police launched a search, and found an unattended bag on the roof of an adjacent house. When they opened the bag, they found the body of the missing child with injury marks on his neck, Outlook India reported.
The police filed a murder case and began questioning the child's family members, relatives and neighbors. When the accused was questioned, she began to mislead the police, but later confessed.
During questioning, the accused told the police she got married in 2013, but did not have a child despite consulting doctors, following which she visited the occultist four years ago in her native village in Uttar Pradesh, a senior police officer said.
"During interrogation, the woman said she was under a lot of pressure to conceive and was taunted by her in-laws and society. Therefore, she approached a occultist in Hardoi four years back who suggested her to sacrifice a child if she wanted to conceive," Deputy Commissioner of Police (Rohini) Pranav Tayal told the Press Trust of India, Times Now News reported. "In sheer desperation to have a child of her own, she decided to kill her neighbor's son to make the almighty happy. As per the plan, on Saturday, when she found the child playing alone on the roof of the building, she went there and killed him."
Several people in India rely on occultist practices, especially in rural areas. In some extreme cases, people take part in human sacrifice to fulfil their wishes.
