A man alleged that his 12-year-old daughter was raped by three men for over a year and that his wife abetted the crime, police said Sunday. The incident took place in the western Indian state of Gujarat.

Police said that the girl’s father filed a complaint Saturday stating that his daughter was raped several times by three men and that the girl’s mother abetted the crime.

"The victim's father filed a case alleging three men repeatedly raped his daughter over a year and that his wife had abetted the crime,” an officer said.

“The victim has told us that her father used to be fed something due to which he would pass out, after which the accused would rape her," the officer added.

Following the complaint by the victim’s father, police arrested the three men Saturday night. One of them was the victim’s 43-year-old uncle. The next morning, police arrested two women in connection with the case, however, the details regarding how they were involved in the case was not known. The girl’s mother, however, remained at large as of Sunday night. Meanwhile, the victim was hospitalized and was undergoing tests.

The incident comes less than a month after a girl, who was sleeping beside her mother at a public park, was abducted and raped at a secluded place at knifepoint in the same state. The eight-year-old girl was found in the bushes and was severely injured. She was rushed to a nearby hospital. Tests confirmed that the girl was raped and doctors said she was also beaten by the accused.
