A woman was arrested for setting fire to her own New York City apartment over an argument she had with her mother. Eight people, including the mother, were injured in the arson.

Anna Lambert, 34, was arguing with her mother at around 9 p.m. Tuesday, inside a third-floor Brooklyn apartment they share together in Coney Island, police said. Lambert later went into a bedroom and locked the door, according to NY Daily News.

A police spokesperson said Lambert poured “an unknown substance on the door” and set it on fire.

The mother called 911 when she noticed smoke coming out of her daughter’s bedroom.

Firefighters arrived at the apartment to find the mother in a state of panic and threatening to jump as flames shot out from a third-floor window.

“There was heavy smoke and fire coming from the apartment windows. An individual from that apartment was at the window frantically screaming for help,” Firefighter Steven McGuire of Ladder 161 said on Instagram.

Firefighters used a 35-foot ladder to rescue Lambert’s mother from the burning building.

“One member climbed up and guided her down,” a spokesperson said, according to the New York Post. “There was no other way for her to get out of the apartment.”

In the Instagram post, McGuire wrote about rescuing the mother and said, “I was able to climb up the ladder and reassure this individual not to jump. We needed to do this as quickly but safely as possible. Once we removed the individual from the window fire took hold of the entire apartment.”

Officials said the flames in the 25-unit building were put out by 10:30 p.m.

While she intentionally started the fire that left several others injured, Lambert herself did not sustain any injuries in the incident. She was arrested at the scene on second-degree arson charges.

Lambert's mother had sustained injuries that were not life-threatening. Apart from her, two firefighters and five residents, including a child, were also injured in the blaze.

A police source reportedly said Lambert has a prior arrest over another domestic incident involving her mother. The cause of the fire is still being investigated.
