Halloween may be round the corner but an Illinois mom-of-two didn’t expect she would have a ghostly visitor in her house already.

It was finally bedtime for 32-year-old Maritza Cibuls after lulling her 18-month-old boy to sleep. Cibuls’ heart stopped when she decided to recheck the baby monitor. She apparently spotted a "ghost baby" snuggled next to the baby in the crib. She took a picture of the monitor and assumed that she was seeing things. She even "tried to ignore it" but ended up being too frightened to sleep.

Her husband was working that night, and Cibuls sent the photo to her husband, mother and best friend asking for an explanation.

Deciding to face her fear, Cibuls crept into the room with a flashlight. "I didn’t see anything unusual in the crib at all," she told Yahoo Style UK. "I was trying to feel around to see if there was any wetness — we thought there might be some drool on the sheet — but I didn’t feel any."

Cibil dismissed it as a stain on the sheet, and checked in on her son thrice throughout the night. She kept vigil all night, her eyes never leaving the baby monitor.

The following morning, Cibuls found out what had actually happened. Her husband was to blame for not removing the plastic from the mattress that a baby’s face on it.

"It turns out my husband just forgot to put the mattress protector on when he changed the sheets," she wrote in her Facebook post along with an image of the "ghost."

"I could kill him," wrote Cibuls.
