A woman threw her kitten on to the floor of a pet shop and stepped on it after the shop’s owner refused to take back the feline she had bought. The incident took place in Jilin, China, on Tuesday.

According to local reports, the unidentified woman went to the store on Nov. 14 and told the shop’s owner that she wanted to buy a cat as she had lost her pet feline. The owner, however, refused and asked the woman to get back home and look for her lost pet before buying another one. The woman came back the following day and insisted on getting another pet. The owner eventually allowed her to buy a kitten from the store but told her she could not return the feline she bought.

On Tuesday, the woman came back and informed the owner that she wanted to return the kitten as she managed to find the missing pet. The owner, however, refused and an argument broke out between the two. The owner left the store following which the woman sat down on a bench inside the shop with the feline in a bag.

CCTV footage showed the woman hitting the bag angrily following which the kitten crawls out and sits on the woman’s lap. In a fit of rage, the woman grabs the feline by the neck and throws it to the floor. When the kitten crawls nearer to the woman, she steps on it with her boots before putting it inside the plastic bag.

The footage has since gone viral on social media with people demanding that the woman should not be allowed to own pets. Meanwhile, some reports said police were called to the scene following the incident and the matter was settled. The woman reportedly apologized to the store owner and promised that she would look after both the cats.
