The “Wonder Woman” standalone movie is almost here! A new extended sneak peek from the highly anticipated DC film made its debut at the 2017 Kids’ Choice Awards on Saturday, March 11.

The two-and-a-half-minute teaser showed Diana Prince (Gal Gadot) as a child and how she grows up to become a warrior. In the clip, she trains in sword-fighting with her fellow Amazons in Themyscira from childhood to adulthood. Later, she meets Steve Trevor, played by Chris Pine, who washes up on the shores of their island and asks her for help to save mankind. She takes up the mantle of Wonder Woman and uses the Lasso of Truth when she leaves the island to help Steve fight in World War I.

Like longtime DC fans, Gadot herself is excited about the movie and loves the character she plays. Last year, she talked about Wonder Woman in an interview with Variety and hinted that Diana Prince may not be straight. “She’s a woman who loves people for who they are. She loves people for their hearts,” she explained when asked about Diana’s sexuality.

Pine also previously shared some details about the upcoming movie. He told People magazine that the “Wonder Woman” film can be enjoyed by audiences of all ages. “It’s going to be a great fun, film with some incredibly deep, interesting and morally relevant themes. It’s shot beautifully. It feels so wonderfully period, but also with this wonderful pop sensibility,” the actor said.

The star also said that he doesn’t mind playing second fiddle to Gadot’s Diana Prince in the movie, telling Total Film: “I couldn’t be happier to be supporting Gal in what’s going to be the first female-driven superhero film.”

Pine shared that it’s time a female superhero takes center stage as there have been many male superhero leads in the past. “I think in the world today we’ve had plenty enough of male-driven everything. It’s finally time to see how wonderful the world can be with beautiful, strong intelligent women kicking some major [butt],” he continued.

“Wonder Woman” hits theaters nationwide on June 2. Check out the latest sneak peek of the DC film below!
