However her major breakthrough came for her performance in Woody Allen's Vicky Cristina Barcelona making her the first Spanish actress to win the Academy award. Cruz had series of high profile relationships but the actress married her co-star Javier Bardem in early July 2010 in a private ceremony and on January 22, 2011 Cruz gave birth to the couple's first child Leo Encinas Bardem.
