World Ozone Day 2020: Quotes To Mark 35 Years Of Global Ozone Layer Protection
World Ozone Day or International Day for the Preservation of the Ozone Layer is commemorated every year Sept. 16 to spread awareness about the effective ways in which our ozone layer can be protected.
Wednesday marks the 35th year of observing the International Day for the Preservation of the Ozone Layer.
Here are some quotes to observe this day:
1. "Climate change and ozone depletion are two global issues that are different but have many connections. In the ozone depletion case, we managed to work with decision makers effectively so that an international agreement called the Montreal Protocol was achieved that essentially solved the ozone depletion problem." – Mario J. Molina
2. "Global warming is a scientific fact as much as the hole in the ozone layer or Earth's orbit around the sun." – Johan Rockstrom
3. "The hole in the ozone layer is a kind of skywriting. At first it seemed to spell out our continuing complacency before a witch's brew of deadly perils. But perhaps it really tells of a newfound talent to work together to protect the global environment." – Carl Sagan
4. "I think we learn slowly as a group, but we learn. The ozone layer is still there." –Eden Robinson
5. "That would be cool if the earth's crust was made out of graham cracker. It would disappear just like the ozone layer, but for completely different reasons." –Mitch Hedberg
6. "From a scientific perspective there is some indication that a nuclear war could deplete the earth's ozone layer or, less likely, could bring on a new Ice Age - but there is no suggestion that either the created order or mankind would be destroyed in the process." – Herman Kahn
7. "I am afraid to go out in the sun now because of the holes in our ozone, I am afraid to breathe the air because I don't know what chemicals are in it." – Severn Cullis-Suzuki
8. "We have rocked the ozone radically, man. They could probably fix the ozone if everybody stopped what they were doing and they put some cement up there." - Mike D
9. "It is personal - deep in my bones and my flesh - the knowledge that we squandered our chance to avoid the climate emergency; to act when it would have been so much easier, as we did to stop acid rain, to save the ozone layer." –Elizabeth May
10. "So I'm going to go on and work on preserving the ozone layer, encouraging everyone to recycle." – Dean Stockwell
