World Series 2015 Expert Predictions: Cubs, Mets, Royals, Blue Jays Chances Of Reaching The Fall Classic
Only four teams remain in Major League Baseball's postseason and they all share one thing in common: decades of futility. With the American League Champion Series and the National League Championship Series set to get underway, one team will break their long and painful drought and be crowned World Series champions.
The Toronto Blue Jays have won the World Series most recently, winning the second of back-to-back titles in 1993. The Jays haven’t won the AL pennant since, and have struggled behind the New York Yankees and Boston Red Sox in the AL East. They begin the ALCS in Kansas City on Friday night against the Royals, who are attempting to return to the Fall Classic for a second straight season. The Royals haven’t celebrated a championship since their first and only title in 1985.
The New York Mets last won the National League pennant in 2000 before losing the Subway Series to the Yankees. The Amazins haven't won the World Series since 1986, their second championship.
But no team has waited longer than the Chicago Cubs, who are looking to end a 107-year championship drought. Though they have made some postseason appearances since the expansion of the playoffs, the Cubs have not captured a pennant since 1945.
Which team will reach the World Series? Of 20 sports writers, 16 believe the Blue Jays will advance from the American League compared to four who think it will be the Royals. In the National League, 13 are going with the Mets, compared to seven who think it will be the Cubs.
