World Series 2018 Odds: Red Sox-Dodgers Matchup Favored, Astros, Yankees Also Top Playoff Contenders
With the MLB playoff picture set following the two wild-card games, the Boston Red Sox (+315) are the 2018 World Series favorites. They’ve got the best betting odds to win the championship after leading every team with 108 regular-season wins, though they’ll have plenty of competition in October.
The defending champion Houston Astros (+335) aren’t far behind Boston, according to 5Dimes. They might be even better than they were a year ago when they won their first title in franchise history.
The Los Angeles Dodgers (+575) aren’t the No.1 seed in the National League, but they are the NL favorites to win the World Series. L.A. has won six straight division titles and came one victory away from winning last year’s Fall Classic.
A World Series matchup between the Red Sox and Dodgers (+673) has the best odds, followed by a rematch between the Astros and Dodgers (+714).
A meeting between the Red Sox and Milwaukee Brewers (+903) has the third-best odds. By beating the Chicago Cubs in Monday’s tiebreaker to win the NL Central, Milwaukee (+775) earned the best record in the NL.
The New York Yankees (+700) have better odds than Milwaukee, even though they’ll be facing the World Series favorites in the ALDS. New York and Boston will meet in the postseason for the first time in 14 years after the Yankees beat the Oakland Athletics in the AL Wild-Card Game. The Yankees finished eight games behind the Red Sox in the AL East after winning 100 games.
A World Series matchup between the Dodgers and Yankees (+1135) has the fifth-best odds of any possible outcome.
The Cleveland Indians (+850) have the worst odds of any AL team now that the Yankees are officially in the division series. Cleveland is the only AL playoff team that doesn’t have a better record than every NL playoff team. The Indians essentially locked up the AL Central a couple of months before the regular season ended.
The Colorado Rockies (+1000) and Atlanta Braves (+1575) are the biggest longshots to win the World Series. Both teams will be on the road for the first two games of the NLDS. Atlanta has the worst record of any playoff team at 90-72.
